Investigate the lighter side of your dark side with writer and artist Simon Kiefer who will help participants explore the gifts hidden in our shadows in a writing workshop utilizing vintage typewriters. No prior writing or typing experience is required - just a willingness to be present and open.
An array of prompts will suggest various forms of creative writing (personal statements, poetry, creative correspondence etc.) and allow for a wide range of expressive elements, such as confession, mourning, atonement, forgiveness, and gratitude.
Be part of a fun evening of creation, experimentation, and conversation over art and wine. The Third Thursday Studio program invites participants to explore techniques and themes of contemporary art inspired by the artists in the current exhibitions through conversation and hands-on experiences.
The workshop will include opening comments, sharing of illustrative examples of people's shadow sides (or "crimes" of the past), and orientation to the typewriter. The evening will conclude with a storytelling forum for participants to share writings created during the workshop. Sharing of works created during the workshop will conclude the evening.
FREE! Space is limited to 12 participants. RSVP through the link here to reserve your spot. Please arrive on time, as spaces not filled by the start of the program will be opened to other interested parties.
Materials provided, artistic talent optional, and an open mind encouraged.
