The Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center are partnering together during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to raise awareness about sexual assault. As part of MCASB’s takepart | makeart: arte para todos exhibition, internationally-renowned artist Tanya Aguiñiga will lead an interactive workshop in which participants will be encouraged to contribute to an artwork that represents the community’s increase in consciousness on sexual assault issues. As the community engages in co-creating this art piece, they will have the opportunity to learn about themselves, to connect to others in their community, hear survivor stories, and learn about the impact that empathy has had on those individuals. The completed art project will be displayed throughout the month to continue to raise awareness.
The event is free, bilingual, and open to all.
Lunch will be provided for all participants.
