Inspired by the exhibition Kota Ezawa: The Crime of Art, create original works of art using appropriated images including those that inform the work of Kota Ezawa. Conceptual artist and UCSB Regents Fellow Maiza Hixson will discuss the divergent practices of appropriation and guide participants through the process of finding their unique voice as they “steal” imagery and concepts.
Be part of a fun evening of creation, experimentation, and conversation over art and wine. The Third Thursday Studio program invites participants to explore techniques and themes of contemporary art inspired by the artists in the current exhibitions through conversation and hands-on experiences.
FREE! Space is limited to 12 participants. RSVP here to reserve your spot. Please arrive on time, as spaces not filled by the start of the program will be opened to other interested parties.
Materials provided, artistic talent optional, and an open mind encouraged.
