Tim Brown, Jared Flores, Emily Halbardier, Bessie Kunath, Jae Hee Lee, Nick Loewen, Ruby Osorio, Rimas Simaitis, and Van Tran

UCSB MFA Exhibition: Headgear for Tony presents fresh talent from the graduate department at the University of California, Santa Barbara, CA (UCSB). Artists receiving their MFAs who are included in this exhibition are Tim Brown, Jared Flores, Emily Halbardier, Bessie Kunath, Jae Lee, Nick Loewen, Ruby Osorio, Rimas Simaitis, and Van Tran. The artists’ work is shaped by their experiences in the UCSB Department of Art’s Graduate Program, which emphasizes interdisciplinary and innovative approaches to artmaking and the utilization of campus resources. The artists also engage in programs outside of the required MFA curriculum to both expand their interdisciplinary scope and supplement their own artistic focus, interests, and goals. Co-organized by Laurel Beckman, Professor and Graduate Program Chair, Department of Art at UCSB, and Karla Blancas, CAF Curatorial Associate, the exhibition presents the artists’ unique perspectives composed of diverse mediums and viewpoints.
