Molly Smith's Bloom Project is a response to her experiences and records from visiting Santa Barbara. Natural matter and found refuse collected during walks and explorations of the city are materials Smith incorporates in her work. Noticing patterns and phenomena in the surroundings, Smith creates abstracted forms and mural sized collages to transform the gallery space and reflect the outside world.
Born in Kansas City, MO, Molly Smith currently lives and works in New York, NY. Smith received her MFA from Columbia University, New York, NY and a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI. She has recently shown at the KS Art, New York, NY; Gallery Min Min, Tokyo, Japan; Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, OH; and Art Center/South Florida, Miami, FL. She is represented by Kate Werble Gallery, New York, NY.
