MCASB is temporarily closed and will reopen to regularly scheduled hours starting Tuesday, June 17.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB) fosters equity, celebrates diversity, and supports inclusion by listening to and responding to the needs of our diverse communities across all aspects of race, religion, age, gender identity, ability, and socioeconomic status. We are committed to creating a welcoming space that acknowledges and respects the multivocal nature of our visitors, volunteers, staff, exhibiting artists, trustees, and community partners.
In this time of tension and uncertainty particularly for our Indigenous and Latinx immigrant communities in Santa Barbara County we affirm our commitment to peace, non-violent protest, and, above all, the safety and the emotional well-being of everyone in our community. With that in mind, and prioritizing the safety and mental health of our staff and visitors, the MCASB Board and Staff have mutually decided to close the museum this week, including the weekend, and will reopen on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
We stand in solidarity with migrant and undocumented artists across all disciplines and platforms who enrich our cultural landscape and contribute to the vibrancy of our creative community. We extend our gratitude to the 805 UndocuFund, the Immigrant Legal Defense Center, and the 805 Immigrant Coalition for their critical work in supporting our communities and leading the rapid response efforts in light of recent immigration enforcement activity.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the museum soon, and we remain deeply committed to serving as a safe and inclusive space for all.
